Title Task-specific ionic liquids for advanced applications Research area and project description Many biologically active molecules are chiral, and their enantiomers can vary in biological activity, metabolism, and physicochemical properties. Thus, controlling enantiomeric composition accurately is crucial in pharmaceutical and analytical chemistry.
Chiral ionic liquids (CILs) are especially interesting because their structures can be systematically altered while maintaining a defined chiral environment. This Ph.D. project will explore how CILs interact with chiral active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), focusing on the molecular features that influence enantiomeric recognition and separation.
It involves designing and synthesizing suitable CILs based on chosen combinations of chiral cations and anions1 …
